Hey, I’m Ana!

I’m so glad you’re here! I’m devoted to helping wild women like you create an {unconventional} life of true freedom.
How do I do this?

I’m a life coach for Freedom Junkies – people who want to create more freedom in their lives, inside and out.

I teach you how to live the most authentic expression of yourself so you create a life on the outside that is in alignment with your life and values on the inside.

I help my clients learn how to make the most of this one, precious life – even when things get messy and we keep screwing up.

I do this through using a combination of ancient wisdom + modern science, especially with applying mindfulness to real life and cultivating clarity + courage.

Wait: did I just say I use mindfulness? Yes! Does that mean you have to be Buddhist or a regular meditator? Definitely not! I’ve just found that the core teachings of Buddhism (which for me are a philosophy about a way of life more than a dogmatic) help us to be happier, more awesome human beings – no matter who you are. As the Dalai Lama says, “Do not try to use what you learn from Buddhism to be a Buddhist; use it to be a better whatever-you-already-are.” And I believe you deserve to live your true, authentic self and enjoy this precious life for as many moments as you can. Mindfulness applied with Clarity + Courage help you do exactly that.

Another way of explaining what I do is that I teach women how to cultivate ziji – a Tibetan word for true, radiant inner confidence.

When you have zijiyou stop caring so much about what other people think about you, or worrying about what might go wrong. You’re not obsessing over every interaction and every little thing you did that wasn’t perfect. This is possible because with ziji, you know deep down you are showing up as your best self and that you have the skills you need to handle whatever life may send your way. After all – there are waaaaay better things you should be doing with this precious life than stressing out.

I help you learn how to stop pretending and people-pleasing (let’s face it…that’s totally exhausting!).

You’ll learn learn how be in this world authentically and with integrity – to say what you want to say, walk the world how you want to walk (head held high!), want whatever your soul longs for, and think + believe + ACT in the way that you know is right for you.

To freakin’ evolve.

To do this, you’ll learn how to:

  • have the confidence and courage to step into the risks we all need to take in order to grow and evolve – and I’ve gotten really, really good at teaching women how to do this.
  • know how to manage your thoughts and feelings so they better serve you – and I’ve studied with the best teachers and leaders in this work: I’ve been a dedicated Buddhist practitioner since 1991, having gone on multiple long retreats including a month-long retreat at a monastery in the foothills of the Himalayas – and I continue to take regular extended silent retreats multiple times a year. I’m also certified by three different life coach schools. I’ve taken everything I’ve learned so far and made it easy to understand, with tools that help you apply things like Mindfulness, Compassion, Loving-Kindness, and Positive Psychology to your everyday life so you can build up your ziji. Check out my other street-creds below.
  • get clear about who you are, what you believe in, and what you want out of this precious life of yours. I’ve created signature programs to help you gain clarity about all this.
  • have the self-love and self-compassion so you can learn how to make mistakes and not let it cause you to fall apart. I’ve learned this through beating myself up for so long that I finally learned how to turn it around – and teach it to others.
Life is short. The time is now.
So let’s stop messing around doing stuff we’re not into, shall we?

If you get what I’m saying, welcome to your tribe. How does it feel?

Maybe a little scary.

And that’s OK.

It always feels that way when you’re about to make an important change or step out of your comfort zone.

Let’s be clear here: growth is not comfortable. Neither is climbing a mountain. But both are totally exhilarating.

And totally worth it.

I want you to create a life that is lived in a way that you are proud of, with no regrets. That takes courage! I can help you find it.

I want you to look at your life – and death – straight in the eye and embrace all of it, knowing that you can make it all worth it. That is precisely why it is so important to me that you not waste any more of your precious life energy and freedom doing things you don’t want to be doing, or being someone you don’t want to be.

Frankly, I don’t care what it looks like – I just want YOU to care, and YOU to be happy – no…ECSTATICALLY PASSIONATE – about it.

I’ve had some crazy life experiences that will help you on your journey. I’m happy to use what I’ve learned during my adventures and misadventures to give you a better chance at avoiding my mistakes. In addition to being an expert transformational life coach, I’ve been a nurse and midwife for over 17 years, an international climbing guide, and a mentor to passionate women like you for over 23 years. And that’s just the tip of the iceberg. It’s one of the perks of having a coach who is a multi-passionate!

I’ve chosen to serve and change the world in this way because the only thing I love as much as living my own amazing life is helping YOU have the confidence, mindfulness, clarity, self-love, and tools you need to live a life of true freedom, adventure, and purpose on your own terms.

After having cancer twice and coming way too close to almost dying during several climbing expeditions, I’ve discovered that an awareness of the fleeting nature of this life is a powerful tool that can inspire us to do the things that will help us create our ideal life – even if it feels scary at first. I can show you how to not fear death, and instead, use the reality of it to make impactful change in your life.

Trust me: regret later in life is scarier than anything you might be afraid of trying right now.

I have also learned how powerful our minds are at creating our reality, and can help you use your powerhouse of a brain to act in your favor instead of against you. No more self-sabotage here, sister. It’s time to put your Big Girl panties on and be willing to get knocked down, because you know you can get back up again. In this way, you aren’t afraid of what might happen next. Instead, you’re thinking, “Bring it on!” This is possible – really!

Free your mind, free your life!

Aside from being certified in several top coaching methodologies, having a degree in Clinical Psychology, two Master’s degrees from really good schools (I know some of y’all care about that kind of thing) and a doctorate degree, here are a few of those aforementioned adventures (and misadventures):

  • Survived cancer. Twice (kidney cancer and worse-than-superficial melanoma). And now thriving. Yup. I know…right?! Talk about reasons to ask, “WTF?” These two episodes in particular are ones that I really want YOU to benefit from, instead of having to go through them yourself. Please allow me to have done that for you.
  • Almost became a Buddhist nun. Twice. Like, almost shaved my head and took vows of celibacy. The first was after doing a month-long meditation retreat in the foothills of the Himalaya in Nepal and realizing the whole point of being alive, for me, was to grow spiritually and serve others. And that was before I got cancer;) But I realized I learn more when in the throes of a passionate relationship. Go figure.
  • Went to graduate school – twice. Once was to be a Family Nurse Practitioner and the second, to become a Midwife. Well, I guess my doctorate degree counts as a third time…but that just seems crazy to admit.
  • Got divorced (not twice!). Great man. Wrong man.
  • Got cheated on (once…but I suppose maybe twice;) Wrong man. Period.
  • Found my super-freakin’-amazing-more-than-I-could-have-ever-imagined soul mate (and live an adventurous life with him in three different states – yay!)
  • Lived out of my car (intentionally) for 7 years
  • Worked as an international alpine climbing guide for 10 years. For realz. Not hiking trips (that’s what my mom thought I did). We’re talking the Himalayas, Andes, Alaska, etc.
  • Traveled to 6 continents (just missing Antarctica!) and filled two passports, one with extra pages, most while making less than $14,000 a year.
  • Delivered hundreds of babies in the middle of the night in Bali, Uganda, the Dominican Republic, and with incredibly amazing women in the good ol’ US of A
  • I dig learning – a lot. I’m currently doing deep dive into growing as a teacher in Jack Kornfield and Tara Brach’s 2-year Mindfulness Meditation Teacher Certification program; I’m a Certified Applied Positive Psychology Practitioner and Coach; Master Certified Life Coach (with training from three different schools); Registered Yoga Teacher and more. I have an undergraduate degree in clinical psychology, two Master’s degrees in nursing, and a doctorate in nursing. I’ve studied extensively with teachers like Pema Chodron, Lama Zopa Rinpoche, Geshe Tsultrim Gyeltsen, Gil Frondsal, Kirti Tsenshab Rinpoche, Ven. Robina Courtin, faculty at Spirit Rock and more. I’ve also studied with experts like Brooke Castillo, Abraham, and faculty at The Flourishing Center… (I spend more on learning than I budget for food – can you tell?!)

…there’s more, but I want you to get out there and do amazing things instead of read about me here. However, I DO want you to know that I got through the funks of life – those dark, heavy, lonely places – and absolutely thrived afterwards. AND I learned how to avoid making the same mistakes again. I also learned how to teach this to other people wanting to make the most of this life. AND I got – and I mean really got, on a cellular level, where no one can convince me otherwise – that:

This life is so utterly precious, this world so incredibly beautiful, and it is meant to be celebrated and FULLY enjoyed

We are here to manifest and share our gifts (we ALL have gifts), and to love others

We CREATE our reality, our destiny. All of it. Even the bad stuff. But the best part of that means that we can also create something different – something beautiful and in alignment with our dreams. This is probably the craziest and coolest thing ever. Jedi Mindtricks.

We serve others and the world the most when we commit to growth and being the happiest, most joyful, most fulfilled humans we can be

Our challenges also hold the solutions

If you want to free your mind and free your life, let’s talk.
